The Buzz

UPDATE: It looks like the ProForm 14.0 EX has been discontinued and replaced with the all new 8.0 EX. Check out our review of that model.

----------

The ProForm 14.0 EX has received very good reviews from the experts due to its competitive pricing and wide array of features.  It has 32 built in workouts to choose from, which is a lot more than you get on other similarly priced exercise bikes.

Unlike the base 8.0EX, there is a nice 7" full color touch screen with internet capability, just like you'll find on the 740 ES recumbent model.  This allows you to surf the web, watch videos, post on your social pages, or anything else you like to do online.  It really helps to pass the time.

There is iFit technology built in as well, which allows you to view a map of any location worldwide and simulate a bike ride on that trail.

You have 26 different resistance levels as well, so you cna really vary your workouts.  Unlike on the 8.0 EX and the entry level 440 ES recumbent, you get wireless heart rate monitoring capability on the 14.0 EX which allows you to measure it more accurately.  The wireless monitor itself does not come with the machine however.

Another major plus is the comfort and adjustability that these bikes offer.  You have front mounted transport wheels, leveling feet, oversized adjustable seat and pedals, a workout fan and iPod compatibility for your music.

As far as drawbacks, there aren't really many to speak of.  It would be nice if they included the wireless heart rate monitor but you really can't expect that at this price level.  Plus, you can pick one up for relatively cheap these days.

All in all the 14.0 EX has a nice, smooth quiet ride with enough adjustability to make it perfect for any user, and plenty of workout variation to help you meet your goals.

Our Take on the 14.0 EX Upright

It's hard to beat the ProForm 14.0 EX as far as value is concerned.  For $799 you are getting an internet capable touch screen, 32 workouts, iFit, silent magnetic resistance, iPod compatibility and a solid warranty.

It's definitely a better choice than the entry level 8.0 EX with no internet.

If you're looking for an entry level exercise bike, the 14.0 EX is a very good choice that will not disappoint.
