The R35 is one of the newest exercise bikes in NordicTrack's lineup, a step up from the base VR25 model with some additional features and capabilities.
This is a recumbent bike, which means you're in more of a sitting position, with a seat back behind you. Many people prefer this type of bike as it's more comfortable and relieves stress on the back while still giving you a great cardio workout.
Let's jump into our review to see what this new model is all about...
The Commercial R35 has a step-through design, mostly black and silver with curved architecture in front and back. There's plenty of adjustability so you can find the ideal workout position.
Let's take a look at some of the most important specs...
The recumbent lineup from NordicTrack has been very well received, and they have improved the look and feel of these exercise bikes with each new model release.
The Commercial R35, as well as its little brother the Commercial VR25, both have a step-through design so it's much easier to get on and off than on previous models.
The two bikes are very similar, but the R35 gives you a bit more of most of the main capabilities than the VR25.
You have a 14" Smart HD touch screen, as opposed to the 7" one on the VR25. A touch screen is still rare on a residential exercise bike, so it's nice to have one here...and a large one at that.
You can view all of your stats as well as tap into the iFit app, a subscription based program that gives you unlimited on demand and live workouts with personal trainers around the world. You can choose Google maps of any location, track and share your workouts, compete against the NordicTrack community and much more.
In addition to all of the workout capabilities, you have 26 different resistance levels to choose from to make your workouts more or less difficult. If you use iFit the machine's resistance will automatically change to match the program you have selected.
The NordicTrack Commercial R35 has a nice 25 lb. flywheel for quiet operation, easy seat adjustment, oversized pedals and a comfortable seat with good lumbar support. You also get a nice workout fan, which is also something you don't always find on a home exercise bike.
The R35 has a 350 lb. max weight capacity, which means it can accommodate more users than previous models.
As of the writing of this review NordicTrack was offering iFit for free for one year, so you're able to try it out to see if you like it. There's really nothing not to like...after the free year there is a small monthly fee similar to a less expensive gym membership...so in our opinion it's well worth it.
Overall this is a solid choice for the home gym...plenty of capability and comfort without the hefty price tag.
If you're in the market for a recumbent bike for your home gym, the NordicTrack Commercial R35 is definitely worth considering.
You get tons of workouts, plenty of resistance levels to make things challenging, comfort and adjustability, and a large touch screen that makes you feel like you're in a high end health club.
If you want to save a little money but still want a recumbent, take a look at the V25 model as well. It's pretty much the same bike except it has a 7" touch screen instead of a 14" one. Otherwise, not much different.
Either way, you can't go wrong with a NordicTrack exercise bike. They are affordable and packed with everything you need for a great cardio workout...whether you tap into one of the many iFit programs or just use it manually.
