The Buzz

Lifecore LC950RBs Exercise Bike

UPDATE:The 950RBs has been discontinued and replaced with the all new 960RB model.  Check out our review here.

The Lifecore LC950RBs recumbent exercise bike has a very low profile display at 42" high is some 8" to 10" lower than competitor models. You’ll be watching TV without the distraction of the console and post in your line of sight.

The console has self-generating cordless power just like a health club unit, which means that you can set the bike up anywhere with no need for a power cord. You start pedaling and the display panel lights up!

Other features of the Lifecore LC950RBs include a handy built-in reading rack, 5" pedal spacing for natural feel and less stress on the hips, quick release pedals, extra padding on the seat, oversized transport wheels, and it is compatible with a Polar wireless chest strap (not included).

The seat is ergonomically designed for ultra-comfort, and features cooling Ergo-Flex Mesh material on the backrest. The slider mechanism has no pre-drilled holes so you can slide and lock the seat at any point on the rail – ideal for fitting any size user.

These Lifecore recumbents are buttery-smooth to pedal and a joy to own. Like the 850 and 1050 models, the 950 features a Poly-V Flexonic drive belt that is guaranteed never to stretch. The magnetic friction-free braking system and 21-lb flywheel provide a near-silent workout.

The Lifecore LC950RBs exercise bike has a longer warranty, larger frame and Quick Key functions, but otherwise, it does not offer more features over the less expensive and more compact LC850 model at $999

Our Take

In consumer reviews of the bike, most users mention that they initially had reservations about the because of the $1,399 asking price, but once they got this easy-to-assemble bike set up at home, they fell in love with it.

Pro reviews have felt the same way; the LC950RBs was awarded a Best Buy in 2010 by Consumer Digest. Comparing the warranties, frame size, flywheel, and features of the three Lifecore recumbents, the Lifecore LC950RBs recumbent exercise bike makes the most sense.
